The Why

One of the ADPA's Four Pillars is to "Pursue American Kennel Club Parent Club recognition of the ADPA and Miscellaneous Class recognition of the breed, capitalizing on the visibility and ubiquity of the AKC in America to benefit the breed's development."

The How

The American Kennel Club outlines the process for a breed to achieve full recognition on their website. A breed, and its designated Parent Club, must meet certain requirements to progress along this pathway. The requirements and current status for the Drent are detailed below.
